Arnold B. Mossner

Arnold B. Mossner, 84 of Fairgrove, MI died Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2009 at his home. He was born on November 11, 1924 in Frankenmuth, son of the late Hugo and Florence (Schiefer) Mossner. Arnold served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Lillian Sheppard on July 7, 1952 in Eufaula, Alabama. Mr. Mossner was a life long farmer and was also employed with Grede Foundry in Vassar for over 22 years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Fairgrove V.F.W. Post #7486 and was a former participant in tractor-pulls. John Deere was his tractor of choice which he enjoyed collecting antique John Deere tractors. After retiring, Arnold enjoyed watching the area farmers continue to farm, traveling and most of all spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife Lillian of 56 years are his children and their spouses, Janie Arnott of Caro, Gerald and Patty Mossner of Silverwood, Lenora and Brian Steinley of Fairgrove, Kenneth Mossner and his special friend Mary Miller of Caro, Carol and Mike Schnell of Vassar, Michael Mossner of Fairgrove, Charles and Lena Mossner of Caro, Chris Mossner of Fairgrove; fourteen grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; sister, Viola Ganschow of Saginaw. Also surviving is his Chihuahua Joey. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Elmer and Donald Mossner and a granddaughter, Rochelle Arnott all predeceased.


~FUNERAL SERVICES~
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2009 from St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Richville. Rev. Rob Gadeken and Rev. Wes Gillaspie will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.


~VISITATION~
Arnold’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese on Thursday from 6-8 p.m., Friday 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Military honors will be presented by the Fairgrove V.F.W. Post #7486 and the United States Army.
