Martha Rupprecht

Martha Rupprecht, 97, of Reese, died Monday evening, December 28, 2009 at the Saginaw Senior Care Center. She was born January 17, 1912 in Reese, daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Bernthal) Kern. She was a graduate of Reese High School class of 1930 and completed a correspondence course in business administration. Martha served as Postmaster in Reese, a position she held for nine years from 1934-1943. She had the honor of being the youngest person in the State of Michigan to hold that position at that time. Mrs. Rupprecht was a life member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese and sang in the church choir for over fifty years, often as soloist. She also taught bible classes and was a member of the church adult bible class. On April 7, 1940 she was married to Roland Rupprecht. He predeceased her March 10, 1968. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and reading.

Surviving is her son Nathan Rupprecht and his wife Georgia of Reese; her two grandchildren, Eric Rupprecht and his wife Stacy of Reese; and Lisa Buck of Saginaw; and her two great-grandchildren, Isaac Rupprecht and Anthony Buck. In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was predeceased by her son, Eric David Rupprecht, two brothers, Peter and Roland Kern and her sister, Hildegard Findlay.

~Funeral Services~
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Rev. Robert H. Bennett and Rev Daniel Meckes will both officiate with burial to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

~Visitation~
Martha’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of services.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Trinity Lutheran Church Organ fund.
