Masao Yoshimine

Dr. Masao Yoshimine, 82, of Midland, died after a long illness, Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born in San Diego, California. During WWII, he was interned for three years in the Poston, Arizona concentration camp. After his release from Poston, he was then drafted into the U.S. Army Intelligence Corp. In 1951, he married Yuri Morikawa, at the University of Chicago Chapel. They moved to Michigan where he received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Michigan. He was employed by The Dow Chemical Company as an organic research chemist for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Yuri, who currently resides at Independence Village, in Midland. He is also survived by his two daughters, Joanne Yoshimine-Griess of Taos, New Mexico, and Carol Yoshimine of Hackettstown, New Jersey, as well as his grand-daughter, Kate Miko Webster, also of Hackettstown.

-SERVICES-
A memorial service for Dr. Yoshimine will take place at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 6200 Jefferson.

-MEMORIALS-
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.

-ARRANGEMENTS-
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.
