Richard Higgins

Richard Charles Higgins, 49 of Midland died Friday, January 22, 2010 at the MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born October 9, 1960 in Midland, the son of the Horace and the late Mary Jane (Johnson) Higgins. He was raised and educated in Midland, graduating from Midland High School in 1979. After graduation from high school he served in the U.S. Army having spent time in Korea after basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. Richard had been an avid outdoorsman and had been very independent. He enjoyed riding bikes, fishing, and spending time on the lake with family and friends. Richard had been a self-employed, having worked previously at both Lake Painting and Bennett Construction. He is survived by his father Horace Higgins of Midland, brothers: Roger Higgins of Ypsilanti, Paul (Cathy) Higgins of Mt. Pleasant, Douglas Higgins of Onstead; sisters, Susan Ann (Gerald) White of Cypress TX, Barbara Higgins of Westlake OH, Margaret C. Higgins of Palacios TX, and Mary Beth (Thomas) Spencer of Grosse Pointe Woods. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death by his mother Mary Jane Higgins on April 16, 2009 and a brother Samuel W. Higgins on September 10, 2002.
