Elizabeth “Betty” Obertein, Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2010 surrounded by family. She was born June 1, 1913 in Pennsylvania and later moved to Michigan and married Darrell Obertein on November 4, 1933. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2006. Betty was a homemaker on the family farm near Fairgrove. She and Darrell spent many years wintering at their home in Ft. Myers, Florida and also spent many summers at their cabin near Lewiston. She was a member of St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Munger. Surviving are her children and their spouses; Margie and Edward Steffek, James and Janice Obertein, Donna and Howard Ellison and Barb and Gene Daenzer; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Francis Tressic, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Marge Obertein, Harry and Pauline Obertein and Ed and MaryLu Gilbert. In addition to her husband and parents, 5 sisters and one brother predeceased her.
~FUNERAL SERVICE~
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 21, 2010 from St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Munger with Father Bill Gruden officiating. Following the liturgy, cremation will take place and Betty’s ashes will be inurned with the ashes of her husband, Darrell and buried at a later date in Denmark Township Cemetery.
~VISITATION~
Betty’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese on Thursday from 1-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the liturgy.
