Robert A. Schluckbier

Robert A. Schluckbier, 50 of Vassar, died Saturday afternoon, June 12, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio waiting for a liver transplant. He was born on January 7, 1960 in Saginaw, son of Loraine (Palmreuter) Schluckbier and the late Waldo Schluckbier. Bob attended St. Michael’s Lutheran School in Richville and graduated from Vassar High School in 1978 as co-Salutatorian. He then went onto Concordia College in Ann Arbor and graduated in 1980 with an Associate in Arts degree. Bob received several other degrees and his final degree was his Master of Arts in teaching degree from SVSU in 1992. Bob’s teaching career started in Norfolk, Nebraska, and then teaching in New York. He was called to Trinity Lutheran School in Reese in 1986 and continued there for the following 18 years as a music director and teacher. In 2004 he went to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock and served as their music director and later as part-time teacher for the last five years. On April 1, 1989 he married the former Kay Bremer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Bob enjoyed gardening and playing percussion in the Vassar City Band in the summer. Surviving in addition to his wife Kay of 21 years and mother Loraine of Vassar is his son, Michael; brother, Gary (Faye) Schluckbier of Battle Creek; sisters, Maryann (Lenard) Frank of Dearborn Heights, Bethany (Christopher) Withers of Royal Oak; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Donna Bremer of Munger and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends to many too mention. In addition to his father Waldo, his sister Kay Loraine Schluckbier predeceased him.


~FUNERAL~
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2010 from St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville. Rev. Wes Gillaspie, Rev. Rob Gadeken and Rev. Richard Mundt will all officiate with burial to follow in St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery.


~VISITATION~
Bob’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday from 1-5 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
