Debra Lee Murray, 48 of Midland, died accidentally Saturday afternoon, September 17, 2005 at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital while vacationing in the Upper Peninsula. She was born February 16, 1957 in Midland, the daughter of Leland W. Burlew and the late Alice L. (Harris) Burlew. Debra had attended schools in Midland and graduated from Dow High in 1975. She had been employed over 25 years with Dow Corning before moving with her family to Milan, Italy for 2 years. Debra had been an active volunteer at Chestnut Hill Elementary School and with the parent-teacher organizations. On September 8, 1990, Debra married Andrew V. Murray in Midland. He survives her as well as her daughter, Abigail (Nicholas) Goodman of Kalamazoo; and sons, Drew Alan and Ian Nathaniel Murray, at home; her brother, Kendall (Ruth) Burlew of Midland; and sisters, Dr. Colleen (Dr. Robert Watters) Murray of Reno, Nevada and Maureen (Jay) May of Canton, Ohio; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ramon and Sylvia Murray of Dover, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
-SERVICES-
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2005 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Rev. Jane Thickstun of the Universalist Unitarian Church will officiate.
-VISITATION-
Debra’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
