Edith A. Varner

Edith A. Varner, 95 of Midland, died Tuesday evening, February 6, 2007 at Tendercare of Midland. She was born October 26, 1911 in Onaway, daughter of the late John and Anna (Portwood) Northcott. She graduated from Midland High in 1928. She married Leonard L. Varner on April 13, 1932. He predeceased her on October 14, 2001. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and had enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, watching birds and squirrels. Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Duane and Mary Alice Varner, Judith and Jerry Hoffman, Janice and Charles Huff; grandchildren, Steven and Kathy Hoffman, Patrick Varner, Michael and Lorrie Hoffman, Kellie and Brian Somerville, Kathy and Mark Turnbull, Michelle Fradenburgh, Krista and Michael Kern, Vicki and Jim Foster, Curtis and Cheryl Varner, Chris and Rose Varner, Lori Varner; 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, two brothers and two sisters, Fred Northcott, John Northcott, Maude Siefferly, Muriel Thomas and two great grandsons and one great granddaughter predeceased her.


Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2007 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Rev. Dr. Charles Keyworth will officiate with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

VISITATION
Edith’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
